This is a very very short but romantic read. I love Darcy's flirtation and his description as to the reason his mother built the maze. The book description sums up the story very nicely but upon reading you will learn why, first of all, Elizabeth is alone in the maze and, second of all, why Darcy finds her there. There are few other players in this novella. As said, Aunt and Uncle Gardiner have Elizabeth with them for their aborted tour of the Lakes shortened to visit Derbyshire and Mrs. Reynolds is, of course, on hand to give the threesome their tour of the house. This was a perfect short read for a very busy Saturday for this reader, but well worth the $.99 it cost. I was reminded of Scenes Jane Austen Never Wrote in reading this vignette. And it was just as delightful as those for me. I have read many, if not all, of the author's other works. She does not disappoint.

Darcy and Elizabeth Lost in Love A Pride and Prejudice Short Story edition by Mary Lydon Simonsen Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Great "short" story, but it is way too short. Just as things were getting good...the book ended. Very well written but it is like one chip...it only left me wanting more. Since this is my first Mary Lydon Simonsen book, I must now look for more.
Well written story with different twists. A couple of problems, though. First, the story ends on a happy note but in an awkward place. The reader knows what is about to happen the next day which could completely change the happy outcome predicted on the last page. The second problem is how FAST we reach the last page. I know short stories are all the rage now (much to my regret) but this one feels unusually short. It flows along beautifully then, suddenly, you turn the page and it's over!
Jane Austen said “but for my own part, if a book is well written, I always find it too short.” and that is the only problem with this story. It's fast, sweet and angst free. Well worth the price of admission. I enjoy this author's writing and was glad for a new story!
Anytime Darcy's conversation makes me wish I were in place of Elizabeth, I know I am reading a great P & P alternate. I could easily imagine his smoldering looks as his seemingly innocent words conveyed their double meaning to its intended target. It's short but hot! Where's my fan?
Very quick read. The meeting of Elizabeth and Darcy at Pemberley was cute indeed. Elizabeth Lost in the maze. Waving her parasol and calling out for help, Darcy himself comes to her rescue. Introducing her Aunt and Uncle Gardiner to Darcy, the conversation turns to what her Uncle thinks is the weather, but her Aunt thinks the conversation has a double meaning. Storm clouds have passed, and they can look to a sunny future.
This story takes place when Elizabeth is touring Derbyshire with the Gardiners. After the tour of Pemberley, she stays to wander the grounds while her aunt visits her friend and her uncle inquires about fishing spots. She wanders into the maze, but loses herself because she is deep in thought.
This is a story about what happens during the first encounter Elizabeth has with Mr Darcy after the fateful proposal at Rosings Park.
I would recommend this sweet but short P&P novella to all JAFFers!!! Mary Lydon Simonsen is one of my favorite P&P variation authors!!!!
Negative reviewers need to chill…we were told going in that this was a short story, was only a small window of time, and yet they want to blast the author and scream foul. Really… this was a delightful look at our favorite characters when Elizabeth was found on the Pemberley property by none other than Mr. Darcy himself. I did question the propriety of the Gardiners leaving their niece alone on the estate with no chaperone other than the Pemberley staff.
I liked the back story and the reference to little Miss Georgiana Darcy wanting her older brother to be her Knight in shining armor rather than the pirate he wanted to play. This correlated with Elizabeth having to be rescued when she became lost in the maze. It was so cute.
After the embarrassment of being found at Pemberley, Elizabeth relaxed enough to banter with Darcy [to his joy] and by the end of this story, you want desperately to see what happens next. Like a chess game, all the playing pieces were lining up and shifting into place ready for the next move.
I liked this little vignette. So, I recommend reading it on a rainy day with a cup of tea, coffee, or cappuccino. You will find that it will lift you up.
